Our Mission Statement
The mission of the Jersey Village High School Orchestra Program is to provide a positive musical and family-oriented environment where students can develop their instrumental and ensemble skills, examine historical and current musical styles and practices, work effectively with peers, and where they develop a positive self-image through participation in co-curricular rehearsals and performances as well as extracurricular activities.
The Orchestras
Chamber Orchestra
Chamber Orchestra consists of mostly upperclassmen and consistently competes in UIL ,Full Orchestra, Solo and ensemble, Region, All-State and various music festivals. This group is comprised of the most advanced members of JVHS Orchestra. Every member of this group is strongly encouraged to prepare the Region etudes during the summer and to participate in the Region Auditions in October. Members of this group are strongly encouraged to participate in Solo and Ensemble.
Symphony Orchestra
Symphony Orchestra consists of students from all grade levels and consistently competes in String Orchestra UIL , Solo and Ensemble, Region and various music festivals. Members of this group are strongly encouraged to prepare for the Region Auditions and to take this audition in October. Members of this group are strongly encouraged to participate in Solo and Ensemble. As of the 2016-2017 this group will also compete in full orchestra uil and be classified as a higher level group that competes alongside Chamber in UIL.

Concert Orchestra
Concert Orchestra consists of students from all grade levels and consistently competes in String Orchestra UIL , Solo and Ensemble, Region and various music festivals. Members of this group are strongly encouraged to prepare for the Region Auditions and to take this audition in October. Members of this group are strongly encouraged to participate in Solo and Ensemble. This group will be classified as Non-Varsity at UIL this year.

Philharmonic Orchestra
Philharmonic Orchestra consists of all grade levels and may compete in UIL. This ensemble is a non-competitive ensemble and exists to refine the needed skills for students to become better musicians while performing both in the fall and in the spring. This group encourages the development of organizational habits, practice techniques and setting goals for future student success.
Our Director
Luke Sliva
Welcome Falcon Orchestra Family!
Luke Sliva is thrilled to serve as the 2017-2018 orchestra director of the Jersey Village High School orchestras. Mr. Sliva has taught in Cypress Falls High School from 2013-2017, this will be his fifth year teaching as an orchestra director. In 2013 he graduated DePaul University with a bachelor’s degree in Music Education.

Prior to moving to Texas, Mr. Sliva also taught in Grammy award winning district 204 summer camps in Illinois. In addition to teaching, Mr. Sliva also plays throughout the greater Houston area. He performs with Grace Symphony, Brazosport Symphony, Woodlands Symphony, Cypress Philharmonic, and also plays in the Second Baptist Orchestra. Mr. Sliva additionally is very involved with the musical group Third Floor Strings that plays classical and contemporary music at events throughout the greater Houston area.
Mr. Sliva is looking forward to a fantastic year and transforming from an eagle to a falcon!
